Olivia is boarding an airplane for the first time in her life to travel to Costa Rica and participate in a USAC winter break study abroad program. She hopes to improve her Spanish while abroad and get a glimpse of the intriguing cultures that make Latin America such a special place.
Lisa is a special education major at the University of Maryland. She is enrolled in her university’s Risk, Education and Poverty program in El Salvador and will spend 6 weeks in a rural community helping to build an afterschool program for local children.
Ida is a student at the University of Michigan who started an organization on campus to gather medical supplies for those in need. She will be traveling to Antigua, Guatemala during her spring break to volunteer at a local medical facility with Maximo Nivel.
Shawn is an experienced health care professional that is about to make his next big move. He’ll be spending the next 13 months volunteering with Nuestros Pequeños Hermanos in Chimaltenango, Guatemala. He is looking forward to putting his skills to work in a new environment.
Dylan, a Columbia University graduate, is studying Spanish independently at the Vamos Spanish Academy in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She is determined to gain fluency in the language so that she can better serve Spanish-speaking populations in the United States as a social worker.
Mark is spending the semester abroad in Cochabamba, Bolivia with Amizade Global Service Learning. A junior at West Virginia University, he was inspired to challenge himself and gain a new perspective on things by doing something different.
